Completing a SimChat scenario
A scenario is a conversation with an AI character. You can practise by typing, by speaking, or by video, depending on what your organisation has set up.
Finding a scenario
After you sign in, you land on your Dashboard. To find something to practise:
- Select Scenarios in the sidebar to see everything available to you
- Or select Collections to browse curated groups of scenarios
Use the search box to find a scenario by name, then select Start.
Choosing how to take part
Before the conversation begins, you'll see the scenario instructions. Read these so you understand your task.
You then choose a conversation mode:
- Text - type messages back and forth
- Audio - a real-time voice conversation
- Video - a real-time video call with an AI avatar
Not every scenario offers every mode. If a time limit applies, it's shown here too.
Having the conversation
Text
Type your message and select Send. The AI character replies in the chat. You can also use the Dictate option to speak instead of type.
Audio
Select Start conversation and allow microphone access when your browser asks. Then just talk - the AI listens and replies out loud. If you have trouble being heard, see Microphone and audio troubleshooting.
Video
Select Start conversation to begin a video call with the AI avatar. You can switch to full screen if you prefer.
Time limits
If the scenario has a time limit, a timer counts up as you talk. The timer turns red once you pass the limit, but it won't end the conversation for you - it's there as a guide. End the conversation yourself when you're ready.
Ending or cancelling
- End conversation finishes the scenario and takes you to your results. Your session is saved.
- Cancel stops the conversation without saving it. It won't appear in your history.
Once you end the conversation, you'll see your results. See Understanding your results and feedback.
Reporting a problem
If something seems wrong with a scenario - for example unclear content or unexpected AI behaviour - select Report a problem on the scenario intro, during the conversation, or on your results screen. Your organisation's administrators will receive the report and can investigate.
