Using scenario libraries and importing scenarios
As well as creating your own scenarios, SimChat offers scenario libraries. These contain professionally developed scenarios that you can import into your organisation's scenario list and share with your learners.
Either way, you reach them through Scenario libraries in the sidebar.
Imported scenarios behave like standard scenarios, except that you cannot edit them. You can still organise them into collections, manage their access and map them to your curriculum.

Who can purchase and import
- Purchasing a library on Starter or Team, like managing your subscription, is limited to owners and administrators. Enterprise organisations have both libraries already
- Importing from a library you have access to is available to owners, administrators and assistant administrators. Authors can import too, provided they are not assigned to specific cohorts and your organisation allows authors to make content available to everyone
Cohort leads, and authors assigned to cohorts, do not see the Scenario libraries page. Imported scenarios arrive available to the whole organisation, which is outside what cohort staff can publish.
Importing scenarios into your organisation
Once your organisation has access to a library:
- Go to Scenario libraries in the sidebar
- Select the library you have access to
- Browse the available scenarios
- Choose Import on any scenario you want to add

Imported scenarios then appear in your Scenarios list, where you can add them to collections, use Manage access, and map them to your curriculum.
Making sure learners can find them
Imported scenarios are available to All users in this organisation by default.
If your organisation has Only show assigned content turned on - an option under Organisation settings that hides anything a learner hasn't specifically been given - put imported scenarios into a collection assigned to the right cohorts, or learners won't see them. See How staff access to content works.
Mapping imported scenarios to your curriculum
You can tag imported scenarios with your organisation's curriculum topics so they count towards coverage reports alongside your own scenarios:
- On the Scenarios page, find the imported scenario
- Select Map to curriculum
- Search for and select the topics it covers, then save
The mapping belongs to your organisation and doesn't change the scenario itself. See Tracking curriculum coverage.
Removing an imported scenario
On the Scenarios page, use Unimport this virtual patient. This takes the scenario out of your list; it stays in the library, so you can import it again later.
If you need help choosing a scenario library or managing imports, the SimChat team can assist.
