Creating scenarios using the AI scenario generator

The AI scenario generator allows you to create a complete scenario instantly by describing what you want. You can also upload supporting files, such as PDFs, to help the AI include specific details.

Once generated, you can edit and refine the scenario using the scenario editor.

Getting started

To create a scenario using the AI generator:

1. Go to Scenarios
2. Select Create scenario
3. Choose the Generate with AI
4. Describe the scenario you want to create
5. (Optional) Attach PDF files for additional context
6. Select Generate scenario

The AI will produce a draft scenario that you can review and edit.

Choosing the scenario type

Before describing your scenario, choose the scenario type from the dropdown. The scenario type determines how the AI character behaves and the structure of the interaction.

SimChat includes five built-in types:

• History taking
• Counselling
• Customer service
• Interview
• Explanation

Organisations can also create custom scenario types to match their own training formats.

How to describe your scenario effectively

The text box allows you to describe the scenario you want. The more clearly you describe it, the better the generated scenario will be. Try to include:

What the scenario is about

• The situation or context
• What the learner should aim to do

The AI character

• Who the character is
• Their background or role
• Their personality or emotional state

Key details

• Specific information that must appear
• Anything the AI should or should not reveal
• The tone you want the interaction to have

Example descriptions

• “Create a history taking scenario with a 34-year-old complaining of abdominal pain. The underlying diagnosis is acute appendicitis. The learner should explore symptoms, red flags and past medical history. The character is anxious about the possibility of requiring surgery, as they are needle phobic.”
• “Create a customer service scenario where a customer is unhappy about a delayed delivery of an expensive laptop. The learner’s task is to apologise, explain the issue and offer solutions.”

You do not need to write in a special format. Simple clear sentences are enough.

Using PDF files

You can attach PDF files to give the AI more information to work with. This is useful if you have:

• Existing training materials
• OSCE or assessment stations
• Policies or structured guidance
• Case details you want included

The AI will read the PDFs and use the content to shape the scenario.

Reviewing and editing the generated scenario

After the AI creates your scenario, you can open it in the scenario creator to refine it. You can edit:

• The script
• User instructions
• Checklist
• Questions and answers
• Resources
• Scenario settings

This ensures the final scenario matches your requirements.

Once reviewed, you can Publish the scenario to make it visible to users.
